Exuma Bahama's Sandal's Emerald Bay

Image
December 9, 2019 through December 14, 2019 We arrived on the tarmac in the Bahama's at approximately 1:30pm and felt the heat from the sun kissing our faces, knowing that back home in Ohio it was around 40 degrees we couldn't help but feel giddy to begin our week at the Sandal's Emerald Bay, all inclusive resort. Everything went very smooth from the airport to the hotel. Once we arrived we were ushered into a waiting room where we were served their signature cocktail the "Bahama Breeze", a tasty green drink. Our rooms were not available so they took our luggage, explained what our food options were and told us to come back at 3:00pm. Kayla's TRAVEL TIP- pack a carry on, or grab something more comfortable to wear before they take your luggage. Since we came from cold weather, we were a bit uncomfortable in jeans.  The first restaurant we ate at was "Soy". This is a non-reservation restaurant. Kayla's TRAVEL TIP- Sandal's resorts have...

Work hard, play harder

Today in the Midwestern region the temperature is about 30 degrees, which is considerably warmer than what we are expecting in the next few days. The forecast is calling for approximately -30 with the wind chill. Brrrr…… Fortunately, my boyfriend and I are capable of working hard and saving our money so that we can get away for a little while.  Andy and I have had an all inclusive vacation to Jamaica booked about six months ago and it could not have come at a more perfect time. Both of us are in the law enforcement field and the time we spend on the road and trying to keep everything together can be down right exhausting. There are times when our bodies don't want to get out of bed, but our willpower must be stronger. Vacations like these are what everyone in public service related jobs needs in order to rejuvenate. I realize not everyone can afford to go to Jamaica, but there are closer, warmer environments and places to go to just take a break.  What I am saying is, YOU DE...

My goal here is to create tips and advice for you to follow your dreams in these career fields. Along with fun, cute, and creative ideas. With everything I have done I have met thousands of women who have shared their stories with me and we all learned to help each other up, instead of helping each other out of the agency. That is all I want to do, help you learn and grow and help you see what the bes...

5 MUST HAVES in your patrol car

Image
Five Must Haves in your Patrol Car As a woman in Law Enforcement it can be difficult to feel good when you're stuck in a patrol car every day, your hair is greased back into a tight bun, your vest is suffocating you, and your boots are tight tightly. I joke with my friends about what is the best part of coming home? Taking your hair down, your vest off, or your boots? A patrol car is our office, and in some cases we share cars or have partners. In some cases we get lucky and get assigned our own take home car which is great! You are the only one who drives it and you keep it clean. But, when you're swapping seats you tend to sit in some filth, which leads me to item number 5. 5. Clorox bleach wipes- I don't have room in my bag to cart around a giant container so this small pack is great for wiping down my car before I get in. I am a germ freak and this gives me peace of mind. 4. Yankee Candle concentrated room spray- working in a male dominant field can be sti...

The looks we get

Image
If you're a woman in public service, IE: Law Enforcement, Fire Fighter, Military etc. you will have at least one story of someone being utterly shocked at "How different you look" outside of your uniform. This has happened to me dozens of times, the most recently being while down at Fort Rucker in Alabama for my boyfriend's Warrant Officer Candidate school graduation or (WOC). As always with these military events, we had a social and whilst eating hor d'oeurve's my boyfriend Andy, introduced me to his classmate, and his mother and father. The father spoke to Andy and said that it was cool what he did on the civilian side, referring to him being a state trooper. (Andy is Army Reserves) So, this conversation went on and on and I just smiled and participated when appropriate, until Andy mentioned to the man that I was a state trooper too. You should have seen this man's face!! His jaw dropped and he sort of stuttered. "you're, you're, a, a, sta...
